Habit
Large shrub to small tree, 5-8 m tall, 3-5 m wide; initially upright, later broad to funnel-shaped or round; moderately growing.
Flowers
Squat, white flower racemes at the end of April, somewhat before A. laevis.
Fruits
Bluish black, sweetish, juicy, edible.
Leaves
Elliptical, silky hairs at the beginning of shooting, later reddish, finally medium-green, yellow to flaming orange-red, October.
Roots
Shallow, sensitive to soil compaction and pavements.
Demands
Sunny to slightly shady; tolerates urban pollution, frost hardy.
Soil
All soil that is not too poor, fresh to moist, tolerates droughts moderately.
Note
Not considered among the classic plants as in topiary. The plants we offer have several stems and are cultivated with canopies.
