Dark to deep red-brown, shiny, rough, peeling.
Demands
Sun to shade, sheltered, cold house, sufficiently frost hardy when old, responds well to pruning.
Natural habitat
All well drained soil, moderately nutritious, loamy-humic, acidic to alkaline.
