Habit
An attractive large shrub or small tree, 5-6 (8) m tall, 4-10 m wide; specimens with several stems are broad to umbrella-shaped; single-stem ones are broadly conical; loose habits; fast-growing the first 20 years, 30-50 cm a year.
Flowers
Greenish white umbels in May appearing with leaves, slightly fragrant.
Fruits
Conspicuous red when ripening in summer, later brown.
Leaves
Three-lobed, lateral lobes clearly shorter, shiny dark green; autumn colours in October, bright orange to red.
Demands
Sun to semi-shade, tolerates heat well, very frost hardy, tolerates urban and industrial climates well, wind resistant.
Soil
For all soil that is not too chalky, dry to fresh.
