Flowers
Yellow, May to June.
Fruits
Elongated, ovoid berries, blue-black, unpalatable.
Leaves
Lanceolate, up to 5 cm long, dark green, shiny, clearly bluish white underneath; thorny on the margins.
Roots
Fine, shallow root system.
Demands
Partially sunny, better shady to slightly shady; warm to cool, usually frost hardy; resistant to urban and industrial pollution.
Soil
Slightly dry to fresh; slightly acidic to very alkaline, all well drained substrates.
