Berberis stenophylla

Elegant and loose normal shrub, 1.5-2 (3) m tall and wide; twigs clearly arching down to the ground; slow-growing.

Pretty golden yellow panicles, plentiful; May; usually with second blossoms in summer.

Blue-black.

Evergreen, somewhat thorny-pointed, slender with a rolled up margin (like rosemary), dark green on top, bluish white underneath.

Sun to semi-shade, needs warmth and winter protection; regenerates after frost damage and cutting; tolerates urban and industrial pollution.

Well drained, not too dry garden soil.

An attractive decorative shrub when protected; takes well to cutting.
