Upright normal shrub, 2-3 m tall, 2 m wide, slow-growing.
Flowers
Exceptional, dark red-brown, star-shaped flowers with fruity fragrance, May to June, single second blossoms.
Fruits
Inconspicuous.
Leaves
Elliptical to elongatedly pointed, dark green, very persistent; pale autumn colours in November.
Roots
Shallow, spreading, fleshy roots, sensitive to great droughts.
Demands
Sun to semi-shady; avoids heat and drought; usually frost hardy.
Soil
Fresh to moist, deep, loamy and nutritious, acidic to slightly alkaline.
Note
All plant parts develop an aroma when rubbed.
