Habit
Compact, domed small shrub, 1 m tall and wide, 1.5 m tall in favourable areas, over 2 wide, slow-growing.
Flowers
Pink-white to silvery white flowers, a garden jewel, balls-shaped flower clusters, end of May, with very far-reaching, vanilla-like, sweet flavour.
Fruits
Reddish berries, very rare, never in Germany, poisonous.
Leaves
Summer green to semi-evergreen, ovoid-lanceolate, pale green.
Demands
Sunny to slightly shady, needs warmth, moderately frost hardy.
Soil
For nutritious, loamy soil, neutral to alkaline, moderately dry to fresh.
Note
Breaks quite easily after some 15 years; thus replant in time; does not take to cutting.
