Initially in cushions soon forming carpets with its numerous short runners and covering the ground without gaps; fast-growing.

Flowers
Loose racemes, shiny yellow; end of March to April.
Leaves
Semi-evergreen, in threes, coarse, papery, on wiry, thin petioles, margins thorny-toothed, shoots bronze-green turning shiny green; dense carpet of leaves.
Demands
Light shade to shade, likes warmth, usually frost hardy; protect from winter sun and harsh easterly winds.
Soil
Moderately dry to moist; well-drained, sandy-loamy.
Our tip
In order to promote the early flowering of Epimedium perralderianum, the leaves should be completely cut back in late winter or early spring.
