25-35 cm tall.

Small, nodding, sulphur-yellow, like tiny bells, on loose racemes, April to May.

Usually semi-evergreen, shoots bronze with green veins, turning green later, reddish in autumn; dense carpets of leaves.

Light shade to shade, likes warmth, usually frost hardy; protect from winter sun.

Moderately dry to fresh; well-drained, any garden soil.
