Climbing shoots, but only up to 6-8- m high in favourable areas, otherwise covering the ground or creeping, then some 30-50 cm tall.
Flowers
In whitish green, round umbels from the end of July, but rarely with flowers here.
Fruits
Black, pea-size berries, persistent into spring; poisonous.
Leaves
Evergreen, hand-size, broadly oval to cordate, unclearly lobed, leaf margin domed; shiny dark green, bronze in winter.
Demands
Sun to semi-shade, tolerates heat, likes warmth, only for mild regions or in protected areas sensitive to frost; good for urban and industrial areas, needs wind protection.
Soil
Moderately dry to moist, slightly acidic to very alkaline, in all humic, sandy-loamy soil.
