Asphodelaceae

Habit
Clump-like tufts of leaves, leaves bending, peduncles stiffly upright.
Size
Tuft of leaves 50-60 cm, flower shoots 80-100 cm high.
Flowers
All seedlings and selections tend to have two colours: Flower buds always darker than open flowers. The flowers vary from golden yellow, orange-yellow to scarlet-red.
Leaves
Semi-evergreen, grassy, coarse, sharp bladed margins, greyish green.
Demands
Sun, tolerates heat, needs warmth, moderately frost hardy.
Soil
Moderately dry to fresh, sensitive to winter dampness; well-drained, nutritious, any well-drained garden soil.
Our tip
Winter protection recommended for less favourable areas. It is recommended that only dry covering be used so that the fleshy roots do not rot. Do not cut semi-evergreen foliage! It can be twisted into a tuft to keep off winter dampness.
