Splendid panicles on the ends of this year#s wood, white, pink, red or crimson, like phlox, with numerous petals, up to 20 cm long, summer to autumn.

Capsules.

Deciduous, opposite, elliptical-elongated to obovate, pointed, dark green, young bronze, up to 8 cm long.

Peeling, grey-brown bark, smooth, pink to reddish underneath.

Sun, moderately frost hardy, cold or tempered house, tolerates hard pruning.

Any moderately fertile, loamy, well drained soil.
