Lavandula angustifolia

Dwarfish sub shrub; domed and compact, slow-growing, losing its habit when old if not cut back, long-lived.

30-50 (80) cm tall and wide.

Many flowers in dense, long-stem spikes, purple-blue, beginning of July to August, very fragrant to aromatic.

Evergreen; lanceolate, grey-green; very aromatic.

Only full sun; tolerates heat, likes warmth, usually frost hardy.

Dry to fresh; slightly acidic to very alkaline, in all well-drained, mineral substrates; grows old and dies quickly on heavy, moist soil.

Cut immediately after flowering down to the last recognisable green leaves in the centre of the shrub to keep the habit round and closed.
