Habit
Strong, medium-size shrub or small tree, 3-6 m tall, 1-3 m wide, upright and expansive, covering large areas.
Flowers
White to scarlet, funnel-shaped, single to double, like Vinca, in terminal inflorescences, very fragrant, up top 7 cm long, summer to autumn.
Fruit
Upright, reddish brown, elongated capsules, up to 18 cm long, seeds with dark brown hairy tufts, poisonous.
Leaves
Evergreen, leathery, lanceolate, dark green to greyish green, up to 15 cm long.
Demands
Full sun, sensitive to frost, cold house, in late winter under glass cut hard.
Natural habitat
Any fertile, loamy, moist, well drained soil.
Our tip
Do not water potted plants with very cold water.
