Usually in pairs of three, shoots deep brown-red, shiny green in summer, yellow to copper-orange autumn colours, leaves do not wither after flowering, do not cut before October.

Sun, tolerates warmth, frost hardy; needs wind protection due to its heavy inflorescences.

Fresh to moist, sensitive to drought; humic, nutritious, loamy.
