Prostrate clumps to almost cushions, densely bushy flower stalks.

Tufts of leaves 30-40 cm, flower stalks 50-60 cm high.

Dense panicles like bottle-brushes, often more than 100 stalks on old plants, silvery red-brown, July to September.

Slenderly linear, pale green, straw-yellow in autumn, keeping their colours all winter.

Sun, tolerates heat, likes warmth, mostly frost hardy, does not need wind protection.

Moderately dry to fresh; well-drained, sandy-loamy, freezing back on heavy soil.
