Quercus

A large genus with over 280 species, usually broadly extended trees; flowers monoecious, only the male catkins are somewhat decorative, the nuts are inconspicuous. The foreign species sometimes develop spectacular autumn colours. All oaks keep their brown foliage often into spring.
