Habit
Large shrub or ovoid to round small tree, here 5-8 (10) m tall and wide; branches arching ascending, twigs horizontal; slow-growing; 15-25 cm a year.
Leaves
Semi-evergreen, slenderly elliptical, 6-12 cm long, leathery, pale dark green.
Demands
Sun to light shade; tolerates heat, needs warmth; moderately sensitive to frost; leaf loss occurring occasionally, but replaced in the following spring; resistant to urban pollution, needs wind protection.
Soil
Prefers well drained, sandy-loamy soil, slightly acidic to very alkaline, nutritious, dry to moist.
