Towering stems, forming large crops with its strong-growing runners up to 100 cm long.

50-120 (150) cm tall.

Saucer-shaped, shiny yellow, conspicuously large buttercups, June to August.

Broadly lanceolate leaves up to 25 cm, grey-green, remotely similar to rushes.

Sun to no direct sunlight, likes warmth, frost hardy, sensitive to strong waves.

Moist to permanently flooded, water depth 0-30 cm; stagnant or slowly flowing water, moderately nutritious, humic mud or loam.

As the buttercup likes all fertilised, moist areas, it is advisable to block rhizomes completely to prevent invasion; plastic sheets will not work.
