Habit
A large, spreading shrub or small tree, 5-6 m tall, 4-6 m wide, gracious, roundish, oval crown, slow-growing when young.
Flowers
Like pompons, yellow-green, fragrant flower heads, stamen extended, pink; summer.
Leaves
Deciduous, finely pinnate, fern-like, 30-45 cm long, single leaflets only a few millimetres long, soft yellow-green, folding up like mimosa at night.
Demands
Full sun, sheltered, sensitive to frost, cold house, does not tolerate great fluctuations in temperature, responds well to pruning.
Natural habitat
Well drained, not too nutritious garden soil.
