Habit

Flowers
Dioecious, inconspicuous and small, reddish, hidden under the leaves, spring.
Fruits
Elongated, ovoid, shiny red from the end of September, persistent through winter, poisonous.
Roots
Cordate, tolerate root pressure very well.
Demands
Only semi-shade to shade; needs protection from winter sun, tolerates heat, likes warmth, needs shelter; high humidity, tolerant of urban pollution, resistant to air and soil pollution.
Natural habitat
Moderately dry to fresh, slightly acidic to slightly alkaline, all humic substrates, sandy-loamy, not too heavy.
